Cody Trudel, of Ayer, was killed just after 4:20 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, when a car drifted over the center line on Boston Road and collided with him, the Middlesex District Attorney's Office said.

An email to the prosecutor's office on Wednesday, July 17, for updates on the investigation or any potential charges for that driver was not immediately returned.

Memorials have flooded social media since his death as many remembered Cody for his compassion for his loved ones and his love of animals.

"You were always there for me when I needed you most, without question," Matthew Restuccia posted on Facebook. "The highest of highs, lowest of lows, it didnt matter. No matter what you had going on in your life, you never complained. Life would knock you down, you always got right back up. That resilience is something I always looked up to. You were always my safety net and someone I knew I could always count on.

A natural athlete, Trudel graduated from Westford Academy, where he excelled in sports. He received an athletic scholarship to UMass Lowell, where he studied business and ran on the track team, his obituary said

Many friends noted his competitive nature and athleticism in their memorials.

He worked as a Realtor at the Blood Team Realty Group in Pepperell. The company's memorial is filled with replies from colleagues and customers who loved their experience with Trudel.

His family will receive visitors on Thursday, July 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Tyngsborough Funeral Home at 4 Cassaway Drive, Tyngsborough. A funeral service is set for Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
